Our commitment to welfare
Animal Welfare (Furness) has been dedicated to helping our community since 1985. We offer help and opportunities for a wide range of people and animals. This includes students in animal care, veterinary nursing and veterinary science; those looking for volunteer opportunities to improve their CV, learn new skills and explore a new sector; organisations working in the volunteer, employment and animal care sectors; and everybody in between who may need our help, that we can support, or that we can work with to further educate and raise awareness of our charity and the important work we do.
We work with many local groups like Cumbria Voluntary Service, Right 2 Work, and Furness and Barrow sixth form colleges to support volunteer, education and employment programmes. We also work with local supermarkets, shops and businesses for food donation stations and collection tins, and collaborate with the council dog kennels, police, veterinary centres, and other rescue centres in the Furness area and the wider county of Cumbria to care for animals in need.
Our self-funded charity relies on the generosity of local businesses, donations, and fundraising to protect, rehabilitate, and rehome distressed animals, while contributing to, and building a compassionate and supportive community.
