As a charity, the Animal Welfare (Furness) relies on donations and grants to carry out the vital work we do. Without the generosity and support of the people in our community, local businesses and national and local funding organisations, the level of care and help we could provide to the animals of the Furness area would be significantly reduced.

Our team rescued this tiny 7 week old feral kitten from a busy roundabout in Dalton-in-Furness.

He's now safe in our care & he's been receiving vet treatment for cat flu. But he isn't the first and he won't be the last...

Countless other cats and kittens in our care face similar challenges. Vulnerable animals depend on our charity for shelter, medical attention, and the chance to find loving forever homes.

We recognise that in recent times there are more people and animals in our community needing our help. Whether this is to support pets being seen by the vet, cats that need rehoming due to costs and other unforeseen circumstances, or abandoned cats needing to be taken into our rescue cattery for safety and treatment.
All this comes at a cost to the charity. We are incredibly lucky to be so well supported by our partner vets, funders and you, our community. Your donations have made invaluable and significant changes to the lives of so many animals in the Furness area. By supporting us you have allowed us to rescue, treat and rehome over 400 animals in 2024 alone! That is a huge number and we cannot thank you enough.

But we can't stop now and we can't do this alone...

Donations are crucial to ensuring that we can continue to provide the care and resources animals in our community and care so desperately need. Local animals who have received treatment, been rescued, and rehomed...unfortunately not all our efforts have a happy ending, but with more funds and donations, we can reach more animals in need and work to prevent loss, provide safety and give hope.

There are so many ways to help and support our charity. We understand that not everyone has spare money to donate, but you can support and donate in other ways. Visit one of our Charity Shops to browse or donate your unwanted items, donate your time through Volunteering with our team, add a box of dog or cat food to your weekly or monthly shop to pop into one of our donation stations, maybe you would consider leaving a legacy in your Will, or simply spreading the word of the work we do so we can reach more people to support and be supported.
