Helen Kelly

Rescue Team Leader

I have been working at AWF since 2020 as a Supervisor after previously working at another rescue centre and vets for many years. I have a farm with lots of animals including sheep, goats, horses to name a few, we enjoy showing our flock of pedigree sheep. I have always wanted to work with animals from a young age and love my job its very rewarding.

We have a fantastic team at AWF that work very hard. I enjoy the TNR scheme especially rehabilitating the feral kittens that eventually find their forever homes. Myself and Kayleigh have spent many hours and sleepless nights hand rearing kittens.

Kayleigh Douglas

Rescue Team Leader

I have been at AWF since the end of 2021, I started as a volunteer and became Co-Cattery Supervisor in 2023. I love seeing cats go to their new forever homes and find it rewarding when we have cats who need the extra work get to the point of being rehomed.

We are an incredible team who work very hard to keep the cats happy and healthy.

Julie Pollard

Rescue Colleague

I started as a volunteer at AWF and enjoyed it so much, I became a staff member at the cattery in 2022. I've always had a love of animals and grew up with various cats, dogs, a tortoise and a few mice. At the moment, I just have one cat called Kylo who, is such a soft and loving boy. My favourite part of working at AWF is helping the very frightened and distressed cats to slowly start to trust humans again. To see their confidence grow and watch them go to a loving new home is so rewarding.

Rescue Colleague

I have always loved animals and have had pets all my life. My own cat, Bailey was a stray who I adopted from AWF in 2012. After I retired I started to volunteer at AWF Cattery and I subsequently became a member of staff in September 2022. I love working with the cats and being involved in seeing them safely and happily re-homed. I find it especially rewarding when we find loving homes for the elderly cats and those with long term health problems. My personal involvement with the cats means it is more than just a job to me and I love it!

Animal rescue team support Colleague

I began my journey at AWF as a College placement volunteer in 2023 and proudly became a staff member in 2025. I qualified as an animal care assistant and then went on to do an extended animal management course whilst doing my placement at AWF. I really enjoy taming the feral outdoor kittens / cats, Its very rewarding when they finally go to their new homes. I have lots of animals at home including ferrets, dogs, lizards, frogs & rabbits.
